Hunting question

Postby Falcanor » Mon Jul 11, 2011 11:19 pm

How much strengh/intelligence/stamina do you need to get consistently good hunts?
I got 1 aggresive lamb and a express pony once in 1 hunt but now all I get is grasshoppers and watermelons. My stats are:
Strengh:23
Stamina:3
Intelligence:4
And I have a hammer for a weapon.

It does get better as you improve, but it never is certain even with max skills/weapon. To me it seemed to go in cycles. After skills/weapon the only variable you have control of is the hunting ground. Choosing hunting ground is trade off between results and accidents.

Should I switch to picking then with my current stats? Would I genrally make more money picking then with hunting at this point?

Stop switching hunting areas. Stick to one area (and don't click on it, that resets it) and your hunts will improve.

I actually haven't switched once yet, I was just asking if I would make more profit switching to picking. I'll keep hunting then and see what happens, thank you for your answers. :)

Picking only gives a few items and they will be low paying (unless you get a pumpkin, which can be sold for the maximum amount, still a small amount at 40kc though).

Clicking the different hunt locations (not waiting for reset to give you anything, simply clicking a different location or the same location) will reset the hunting percentages out of your favour. Stay in the same area until a mammoth hunt (you decide whether you want to participate in the mammoth hunt or not) or when you get sick which will mean you get tossed into the sleeping location. Only then change the hunting area (or put yourself back in the same hunting location).

yup. I will hunt at the same location, use a slingshot, and then max strength daily, followed by intel, then stamina. then start eating bigger prey and also start quest partly.

I'm nowhere near maxing out my stats yet (and it's a top priority for me), so I've found that picking is more lucrative right now since I don't have a weapon that guarantees me 6+ kills.

Well, your stats are at max. In a mammoth hunt, "a good catch" depends on the kind of weapon you own, if you own/ don't own a pet which can help you in the hunt and your weight which you should improve on.

I will try with the same stats and weapon as you next time; whish I had a pet, but we should do fairly well imo. ;)

Although a pet does help, it isn't required. The hunts are more on a luck factor. Depends on stats, health, moral, weight, weapon and weather conditions. It is still no guarantee of a good hunt. Sometimes even low stats will have a great hunt, so count that hunt you got as a lucky hunt and be happy, they will get better with time but will still be bad sometimes.
